Be Radiant
Joy as Satanic Praxis
“What matter that they have rejected the ferocious Demiurge, if they do not hearken to the friendly demons who teach all truths; to Dionysus, Apollo, and the Muses?”
Anatole France, The Revolt of The Angels
This season is hard even during the best of times but we hardly find ourselves in those times. The deepening shadows of theocratic nationalism and the return of “great powers” politics looms over much of the western world. Behind those vile, twin threats looms the specters of techno-feudalism and environmental collapse. We live in interesting times that feel to so many as unprecedented times, despite them being the same rhythmic echoes of all of history. A heavy, near impenetrable veil has been thrown over us. But being heavy is not the same as being immovable. Near impenetrable is not the same as impenetrable. Light finds the cracks. Hope enters the gaps. Joy finds a way.
Joy is a weapon of illumination, the most potent sword of the Unbowed. Joy is also a practice, not an emotion, that one must dedicate time and effort to nurture. During this holiday season I urge you to unsheathe the weapon and practice unbridled joy whenever you get the chance. Sit with friends and family around the table sharing food, drink, and games. Play in the snow, go skiing, or just head to the theatre to catch a show or movie. If vigorous play isn’t your cup of tea, cozy up with a book, a blanket, some pleasant music, and a favourite holiday treat and indulge in some literary fancy.
There are a lot of people trying to convince us that we’ve already lost, that this is the dawn of Christian Nationalism, not the dusk of the Me-Me-Me Era of politics and business. They know they are lying. They are hoping that they can will their lies into truth but crushing your joy. Don’t fucking let them. There is good in this world. That good is you. It flows from you when you dance with abandon and rage at injustice. We are incentivized to only rage and never dance. This is because rage expends us, leaving us vulnerable to mistakes and ennui. But dance, dance replenishes. Joy replenishes.
So on this Sol Invictus, embrace joy. Seize happiness from the jaws of complacency and doomerism. Be radiant. Drive your quadriga through your community. Let your Satanic Joy light reignite the passions of your neighbours for a better tomorrow.
Hail Satan! Hail the Unconquered Sun!
And Happy Sol Invictus to all the Unbowed.

Thanks for this! I read an article many months ago that echoed these sentiments and it’s something we all need to hear so badly now (and embraced daily); they want to rob us of joy and have us live in fear and darkness and we can’t let them. Embrace joy and Hail Satan!
My brain needed that. Thank you
