A Month Long Celebration of Unveiling Day
Unveiling Day is a “celebration of religious plurality and shedding archaic superstition”

On July 25th adherents of The Satanic Temple celebrate Unveiling Day! It marks the day we revealed our iconic Baphomet with Children statue to the world. In many ways it was a coming out party. Like so many of our parties it was besieged by counter-pluralists zealots who were shocked at our audacity. Eleven years later, many of those same zealots are still shocked by our audacity but now they have to reckon with our effectiveness. We Satanists have claimed our spot in the public square and we have shown ourselves resilient, truculent, and effective when people have tried to silence us. Kind of like the adversary who defined the almighty.
For Temple Satanists, Baphomet with Children statue has become a symbol of resistance. Its creation announced to the world we are real. Baphy, as many call them, has enchanted us much like Nectaire’s flute enchanted the angels in revolt. Baphomet has also inspired us, not to take up arms, but to take up pen, paint brush, and knitting needles. The promethean Satan of The Revolt of the Angels sparked our existence. Our existence sparked the creation of Baphomet with Children. And Baphomet with Children has sparked creation in the hearts of Satanists across the world.
So for Unveiling Day 2026 I want to honour that spark of creativity and share the passion of my colleagues. I will be turning my SubStack over to three dear colleagues, fellow Ministers and members of what I call “The Satanic Republic of SubStack” so they can tell you in their own words why Satanism is important to them.
Their opinions will not match mine. Nor should you or I expect them to. A republic is meant to be a chorus of voices that debate, deliberate, and compromise. In other words, a plurality.
So for the following three weeks you will hear not from me, but from my colleagues, my friends, and my inspirations. I urge you to share your answers and thoughts in the comments of this article or in theirs. I will return at the end of July with an article of my own, one about the Satanic Republic of Substack, before transitioning into August with a reflection on Satanic Salvation, inspired by an Anglican friend and writer here on SubStack.

Really enjoyed the humble nature of this piece. I wish we all endorsed and helped one another. Recognition of hard work is certainly key to our ministers’ survival. Me personally, I’ve never charged a thing for my role within TST, though it takes up 80% of my week. Not that I’m complaining; seeing how my work affects my congregation and the allies is such a huge source of joy for me. We should be working together and not against each other, but we will always have people whose actions contradict their online personas. I always think action speaks louder than words. This is a great starting point, so let us put these things into practice and lift each other up. I am always humbled by Lilith Starr, who always has such brilliant advice when it comes to dealing with the outside congregations other than their own. Lilith has always acted so kindly towards BAFOSatan and our members, so I want to give out my pretend mini award for outside sources which help us hugely. Two other people who are instrumental are Minister Melankali and Minister Nada, who are always active and instrumental in their roles, lifting up the European side of TST, so my pretend awards also go out to them. We get handed a manual for our work. We all try our best to stay within guidelines, but with no source to clarify anything, we’re left to look after one another, so I’m so thankful for these three ministers who have no connection to BAFOSatan other than being members and wanting us all to succeed rather than constantly criticising. So I thought I’d take the opportunity to thank them and hail you for writing such an inspirational piece of text. I love the idea of sharing others experiences than my own, I learnt much of this with our zine we released recently and how varied our Satanists are, our motto at BAFOSatan is “for I am legion for we are many” sharing our individuality and our will to act as one.
